Check Petrol aggregates official government fuel data across all states and territories to produce a unified national outage view. Outages are detected through multiple methods to maximise accuracy.
- Government data sources — All outage data comes from official state government fuel reporting systems. Some states report out-of-stock signals directly. Others are detected when a fuel type stops appearing in the price feed.
- Updated frequently — We re-poll every state government feed continuously. How current a reading is depends on the feed: NSW, QLD and SA require retailers to report a change within 30 minutes, while WA prices are fixed a day ahead and change once daily.
- Community reports — Users can report outages they encounter at any station. Reports expire after 24 hours to ensure data stays current.
